Specialist Training

Advice Support Training (AST) provides a comprehensive training programme for new and experienced advice workers - a valued resource as there is very little equivalent local training available to advice workers and outside agencies.

We will also teach tailored and commissioned specialist courses in advice subjects - please contact us to discuss your needs.

Intermediate Benefits Course

This 4-day course can be attended as a follow-on to the Advice Work Skills course, or booked as individual short courses. It covers:

Day 1: Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance and Pension Credits

Day 2: Employment Support Allowance and incapacity benefit

Day 3: Housing Benefit and Council tax benefit

Day 4: Tax Credits

Short Courses

This rolling programme ensures that advice centres keep up to date with changes in local and national legislation, and develop their services to meet the needs of their community. The programme includes advanced welfare benefit course, sextensive debt and housing courses, sessions on challenging benefit decisions
