Opportunity Sheffield was a service aimed at providing impartial help and support to employers and their employees and helping them to access the wealth of services that are available.  The Project, as operated by the DSU, fnished on 30th April 2012.

As part of this service we offered specialist support for workforce development and staff retention. These Support Packages were delivered through Specialist Employer Advisers who aimed to equip employers, line managers and co-workers with the skills and knowledge to support Sheffield's workforce and assist in making them an "employer of choice".

It is getting harder for employees to leave money worries at home.  Research shows that financial stress is impacting on the workplace and causing employers lost time, as distracted employees try to make payments take time off ill with stress, or simply just worry about their problems whilst at work

The Project provided individual help for employees who are referred by their employers, plus website resources to help in managing debt, for those being assisted by the Project.  Those website resources will now be made public.

The DSU will continue to provide services to businesses in the Sheffield area on a fee paying basis. Contact John Donkersley on 0114 280 3920 or e-mail john.donkersley@debtsupportunit.org.uk .

Opportunity Sheffield was supported financially by Yorkshire Forward and the European Union.
